About Al Ain Oasis
Al Ain Oasis is a shaded 1,200-hectare date-palm oasis in the middle of Al Ain, watered by an ancient falaj irrigation system and part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
More than 147,000 date palms grow in Al Ain Oasis, still divided into working plots and watered by falaj channels, a system of underground and surface canals used here for thousands of years. Paved paths wind between the walled gardens, and it is noticeably cooler under the palms than in the streets outside.
The oasis opened to visitors with an eco-centre explaining how the falaj works. It is next to Al Ain Palace Museum and close to the Al Ain National Museum and Al Jahili Fort.
