About Al Shindagha Museum
Al Shindagha Museum, at the mouth of Dubai Creek, spreads across restored historic houses and covers Dubai’s story — from pearl diving and perfume to the ruling family.
Al Shindagha is where Dubai’s ruling family lived in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The museum occupies a cluster of restored houses along the waterfront, each given to a theme: the Creek and the birth of the city, traditional crafts, medicine, jewellery, and a Perfume House devoted to Emirati scents.
The former residence of Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum is part of the area. A walk along the waterfront leads past dhows to the Bur Dubai abra stations.
