About Al Wathba Wetland Reserve
Al Wathba Wetland Reserve near Abu Dhabi is a protected group of lakes where thousands of flamingos gather in winter.
The reserve was the first protected area in Abu Dhabi and is the only place in the Gulf where greater flamingos breed regularly. Two walking trails and a bird hide give views of the lakes. It is open on limited days of the week, mainly in the cooler months.
