About Sir Bani Yas Island

Sir Bani Yas is a nature-reserve island off Abu Dhabi’s western coast, where thousands of free-roaming animals live in the Arabian Wildlife Park.

Sheikh Zayed began the island’s conservation programme in the 1970s. Today more than half of it is a wildlife park with Arabian oryx, gazelles, giraffes and cheetahs, explored on guided drives. The island also has the remains of an early Christian monastery, mangroves for kayaking and several Anantara resorts. It is reached by boat from Jebel Dhanna, about 250 km west of Abu Dhabi city.
