About Dubai Gold Souk
The Gold Souk in Deira is Dubai’s famous covered gold market — hundreds of shops selling gold, diamonds and precious stones by weight.
The souk grew in the early 20th century as Dubai became a gold-trading port. Its wooden-roofed lanes are lined with windows of 18, 21, 22 and 24-carat jewellery. Gold is priced by weight at the day’s rate, which is displayed in the souk, plus a making charge that can be negotiated.
The Spice Souk and Perfume Souk are a few minutes’ walk away, and an abra from the nearby station crosses the Creek to Bur Dubai.
