About Dhayah Fort
Dhayah Fort is the only hilltop fort left in the UAE, a small mud-brick fort above the date gardens north of Ras Al Khaimah.
The fort crowns a steep hill overlooking palm gardens, the mountains and the sea. It was the scene of a battle between local Qawasim fighters and British forces in 1819.
A long flight of steps leads to the twin towers at the top. The climb is short but steep, and the reward is a wide view across the plain.
