About Central Souq
Sharjah’s Central Souq, known as the Blue Souk for its blue tilework, is a landmark market of around 600 shops selling gold, carpets, antiques and handicrafts.
Opened in 1978 beside Khalid Lagoon, the souk is two long vaulted buildings joined by bridges and topped with wind towers. The ground floor is mainly gold and jewellery; upstairs are carpets from Iran and Afghanistan, Omani silver, antiques and souvenirs.
